Among the coastal towns included in this area are: Beverly, Essex, Gloucester, Ipswich, Manchester-by-the-Sea, Marblehead, Newbury, Newburyport, Rockport, Rowley, Salem, and Swampscott.
The area became famous for the Salem Witch Trials in 1692. Manchester-by-the-Sea is renowned for its expensive real estate and a newly released movie. Some of the larger homes on the waterfront range up to over $8,000,000. The newer North Shore homes for sale offer a more open floor plan, but keep a very popular and traditional style. It’s certainly not uncommon to find marble and hardwood floors with floor to ceiling windows for magnificent ocean views.
There are also smaller towns in the area, such as Rockport, which is still considered a fishing village. Gloucester was where the film, “The Perfect Storm” was filmed in 1991. It’s also thought of as a very quaint town, known for its fishing industry. The area is very attractive because of its location near Boston, yet far enough away to enjoy a suburban lifestyle.
